Abstract
A case of a nineteen year old girl with polymyositis and mild skin changes presenting with acute onset with a background of infection has been described. She showed a satisfactory response to treatment with steroids. Since she also had a positive antinuclear factor, pericardial effusion and an initial elevation of blood urea with albumin urea and haematuria, a possibility of overlap with a systemic lupus erythematosis was considered. Currently, the patient is on maintenance steroid treatment under close supervision and follow-up.
