Abstract

Impotency is the commonest form of sexual dysfunction among men. Forty male cases of impotency, referred to the Benghazi Psychiatric service, formed subjects of this study. Majority of the sample belonged to the age group 25 – 35 years with an education lower than secondary school level, and most of them were skilled workers. Main symptoms was erectile problem. Consequent to impotency a significant change took place in their self image and attitude. The study confirms that psychotherapy is an effective treatment for psychogenic impotency.
