Abstract
Alopecia areata constituted 0-78% of all the dermatological disorders in the present study. Both the sexes were almost affected equally. Scalp was the commonest site affected and vitiligo was associated in 11-29% of the cases. The course, prognosis, treatment and aetiological aspects of this rather common disorder are briefly discussed.
