Abstract

Thromboxane is a basic factor for platelet aggregation. Thromboxane is formed from arachidonic acid which is derived from platelet membrane phospholipids by the ??????. In addition, arachidonic acid can be derived from phosphatidic acid; a product of PLD action. PLP is known as a potent inhibitor of platelet aggregation, the mechanism of which is not determined. An assay for PLD was deve1oped and the effect of PIP on the assay was examined in an attempt to explain the nature of the inhibitory effect of PIP on plate1et function.
