Abstract

One hundred patients with one hundred and fifty-six cervicofacial abscesses of different etiology and anatomical sites were presented and the diagnosis and treatment were discussed. Odontogenic infections account for 85% of these abscesses, while non-odontogenic are responsible for the balance. Our recommended line of treatment for all cervicofacial abscesses is drainage, proper selection of antibiotics together with proteolytic enzyme therapy. These were found to be effective in the rapid resolution of the abscesses.
