Abstract

Reasons for 7,000 permanent tooth extraction were studied in Benghazi S.F.L.A J. over a three months period. Caries account for 66.3% while periodontal diseases causes 28%. Trauma and Orthodontic causes, 1.8% and 1.2% respectively, impacted and malposed teeth 2.3%, while teeth related to cysts and tumors causes 0.4%.
The lower first molar was extracted in 92.3% as a result of caries. The lower central incisor showed the highest rate among teeth extracted due to periodontal disease while the upper central incisor is the most frequent tooth extracted as a result of acute trauma.
