Abstract

One of the major risk factors of premature heart disease is high serum cholesterol (more than 250mg/dl) , in this case diet manipulation is the primary therapeutic approach to reduce the risk several dietary recommendations concerning lowering serum cholesterol level by diet and reducing the heart diseases, have been published in the last four decades. People are advised to reduce their dietary intake of fat,especially saturated fat, cholesterol and to increase their intake of fiber-rich foods to improve their cholesterol level and decrease the risk of coronary heart disease (CHD). The effectiveness of diet is enhanced when individualized counseling is optimized, and body weight is controlled.
