Complications of Hydatid Cysts of Liver in Children

Abstract

The present study showed that about 1/3 of the pediatric patients with hydatid cysts of liver presented with complications. These included infection, intraperitoneal rupture, obstructive jaundice, calcification of the cyst wall and proteinuria. Partial ectocystectomy and tube drainage was uniformly performed in all of them. Clinical features and management of these patients is discussed.
