Abstract

Consanguineous marriages are Common in East Libya. A survey of 500 consecutive admissions to hospital was undertaken to ascertain the relationship of the patient’s parents. The association of consanguinity with Certain congenital abnormalities is assessed. The consequences for the health of the community is reviewed.
