Abstract

Diabetic coma without ketosis or the hyperosmolar nonketotic diabetic coma is a complication of diabetes mellitus. The following description illustrates this malady in a 50 years old man who was suffering from chronic lymphatic leukemia, detected to be diabetic only in the hospital. He had been on treatment with steroids and chlorambucil. Possible mechanism leading to the development of nonketotic coma in this patient together with a review of reported cases have been discussed.
