Abstract

Kidney Transplantation has grown over the years with more centres worldwide and refinement of the surgical technique. The immunosuppression protocols also underwent considerable improvement with advent of new and more effective drugs. The diagnostic protocols including anatomical studies by computed tomography (CT) has seen considerable advancement with the usage of Multidetector CT. A National Organ Transplant Program has been developed for Libya and housed in Tripoli Central Hospital, and is fully-equipped with all the ‘state-of-the-art’ technology and updated transplant protocols. In its first year of inception, a record 50 patients have been successfully transplanted.
