A total of 128 patients with various types of fractures of the facial skeleton were treated using varying forms of intra-oral wiring, without the use of any devices for external fixation. This is the simplest form of treatment and the results were satisfactory.
Proteolytic enzymes were used and their effect in controlling traumatic and operative odema in these patients was evaluated. Results indicate that the use of these enzymes produced favourable significant reduction of edema, and effects recorded were encouraging.
