Abstract

Acetylator phenotyping was carried out in 56 healthy Libyan Arab volunteers. The result shows that about 72% of these volunteers are slow acetylators (As) with allele frequency of q = 0.84 ± 0.04. This finding is consistent with previously known gene frequencies of some neighbouring countries. The clinical importance of determining acetylator phenotype is discussed in relation to efficacy and adverse drug reactions.
