Abstract

81 children with Type I Diabetes were tested for glyocosylated haemoglobin (HbAlC) level at the time of diagnosis. HbAlC then had been correlated for duration of symptom, family education and history of diabetes in the affected families. We found that family with good education has seeked medical advice earlier. We have also found families with history of diabetes particularly Type I have seeked medical advice earlier. Families with limited education gave an unreliable history in terms of duration of symptoms and seeked medical advice late as it has been reflected by their HbAlC level at the time of diagnosis .
