Abstract

Intussusception prolapsing through the anus is a rare presentation of intussusception reported in a 5 month old male child. The diagnosis is established pre-operatively, by history and complete physical examination; and confirmed intra-operatively after laparotomy. During the operation, described in this paper, the intussusceptum was sequeezed out manually but stopped at a point 10 cm from the ileo-caecal valve. Limited right hemicolectomy with ileo-colic anastomosis was performed. The patient passed an uneventful postoperative period, and was discharged in a good general condition.
