Abstract
307 cases of acute appendicitis were studied from July to December 1998 at TMC. We found that the incidence of perforation is 20.1% for all age groups, and 55.6% of these patients presented later than 24 hours after the onset of symptoms. The age and late presentation are the most important risk factors. Perforation was higher in children (46.6%) and the elderly (100%).
