Abstract

Summary. During the routine coprological examination of parasites in children attending the Children Hospital in Benghazi, a total of 5380 stool samples were screened (during the period from January to December 1996). An overall prevalence rate of 12.88% (6.24% Giardia lambila, 3.94% Entamoeba histolytica, 2.62% Entamoeba coil and 0.07% Trichomonas hominis) was observed. Children have a higher rate (3.01%) of infection in 1 to 5 year age-group. . lam bib was found even in one and half month old infant.
