Abstract

A case of severe mental retardation due to craniosynostosis, treated surgically, is described. The patient presented at the age of five years. Apart from usual disobliteralion of sutures, a different technique of stitching periosteum to dura was employed to prevent osteogenesis and early closure of the bony defect. No reunion of the body defect was noted. An improvement in the mental condition of the patient has been observed in the following operation.
