Abstract
A simple technique of producing experimental trichophyton infection on human skin is described. Suspension of fungal elements was applied on ethanol treated skin and occluded. In 3 to 5 days the occlusion was removed. The inflammatory lesion healed in a few days. In cases where the semi-occlusive dressing was maintained so as to provide tropical conditions, the lesion persisted during the follow up period of 16 weeks. No protection to subsequent infection was obtained by either preceding or concurrent infection at other sites when employing the same experimental strain of T. rubrum.
