Abstract

A case of nephrotic syndrome and rena/failure due to systemic lupus erythematosus (S.L.E.) in a 40 year old Libyan lady has been reported. The case was fully investigated, including a renal biopsy. It is being reported to emphasize that in a case of nephrotic syndrome with or without renal failure, where no other obvious cause is present, this uncommon disease should be considered. Unfortunately, the patient had an acute downhill course due to extensive proliferative crescentic gbmerulonephritis produced by S.L.E. and is now on regular haemodialysis. Various relevant aspects of disease and particularly its management have been discussed.
