Abstract

A total number of 3l paediatric patients were treated for obstructed inguinal hernia during a 3-year period (1982-1985). Obstruction was more common in young male infants and in those who had right-sided inguinal hernia. Administration of sedative and a short period of observation lead to reduction of the hernia in 66.6% of patients. The rest underwent emergency operation with satisfactory results.
