Abstract

Excess pyridoxine lowered plasma total cholesterol, increased HDL- cholesterol and lowered the risk factor in rats fed normal or high – cholesterol diet. A modified procedure is also described for the direct estimation of cholesterol in lipid extracts by the commercially available serum cholesterol enzymatic assay kits. The modification involves extraction of the final colour into n-butanol arid reading the optical density at 480 nm.
