Abstract

The so-called neuroinsular complex has been studied in the pancreas of some laboratory animals to determine its presence and the autonomic nature by latest histochemical techniques. The complex consists of both cholinergic as well as adrenergic nerves which form pen-insular complex and from which fibres enter ihto the substance of the complex and come into contact with the cells. Usually large parasympathetic ganglia and occasionally small sympathetic ganglia associated with nearby vessels were found in the vicinity of the complex. The postganglionic fibres surround the “COMPLEXES NEUROINSULARES”. The practical significance of these findings have been discussed.
