Abstract
The Life Event Scale for Adolescents (LES-A) was used to gather data from 592 adolescents 15 to 20 years of age. These data included an item indicating their involvement in an automobile accident within the past year. Subjects reporting involvement were compared to those with no such experience. The results support the hypothesis, namely, a stressful emotional environment contributes to the involvement in automobile accidents among adolescents. Shortcomings in the study are discussed.
