Abstract

A case of traumatic split palate resulting from a fall of a heavy flat surface on the face. There was a midline wound which starts from the hard palate and extends posteriorly into the anterior part of the soft palate. A communication of the oral and nasal cavity was there which indicates tear in the mucosa of both oral and nasal cavaties as well as separation of the palato-maxillary shelf posteriorly, resulting in a minimal displacement with mal -occlusion of the teeth.
This was simply sutured under general anaesthetic and nothing further was done to the bone. The wound healed very nicely.
