Abstract
One hundrad and eighty diabetic patients admitted with Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) to Tripoli Medical Centre in the period from 2000-2002 were analyzed retrospectively. The mean age was 33.9 yr. (range 14-72yrs), the male to female ratio was 0.9:1 and 59.4% were type 1 diabetes mellitus. The main precipitating factors were insulin omission, and infection. The mortality rate was 9%.
