Misleading Preoperative Diagnosis of neck Masses

Abstract

A case of neck swelling, from history, clinical examination and imaging a provisional diagnosis of carotid body tumour was done. Surgical excision carried out and histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of neurilemmoma of the cervical vagal nerve, the tumour was found to be arising from right vagal nerve. Angiography, FNAC should be considered as excellent diagnostic tools in selected neck swelling.
