Abstract

In the last 10 years the management of female stress urinary incontinence (SUI) showed a lot of changes with a dramatic revolution in the type, route and technique of the operations with different success rates. Department of Obstetric and Gynaecology, Uppsala university hospital – Sweden – introduced a new theory and management of female SUI; Tension free Vaginal Tape implantation. A minimal invasive operation under local anaesthesia with or without hospitalization. Better prognosis, with recovery rate more than 90% compared to old operation techniques. Some intra- and post-operative complications were noted. Since 1998 TVT- implantation was in many hospitals the main vaginal technique for the treatment of female stress urinary incontinence where new methods were introduced like Monarc-operation and Intra-vaginal sling with its modification.
