Abstract

Gamma glutamyl transpeptidase (γGT) and Alanine aminotransferase (ALT) activities were measured in 391 Benghazi blood donors. The results were compared with different age groups. There was no noticeable differences in γGT and ALT in all blood donors investigated. The distribution of γGT and ALT in healthy male adult population was established. Negative results were obtained for the detection of anti body to human T-Lymphotropic virus, Subclass III (anti-HTLV-III), whereas Hepatitis B antigen (HBsAg) was positive in 1-2% of all blood donors screened.
