Abstract
In the delivery ward of the Zuara Central Hospital, there were 4799 deliveries and 245 major surgical procedures in the period January 1,1976- May 31, 1978. There were 200 cesarotomies, 25 subtotal and six total histerectomies, five embriotomies and 298 applications of vacuum extractor for injured followed by vesico-vaginal fistulas which were operatively managed with success. Two fistulas developed after cesarotomy, namely subtotal hysterectomy, and one after protracted delivery.
