Abstract

Five cases of the segmental fractures of the femoral shaft, two of them compound, are reported.
The fractures were present at the two levels of the femoral shaft in four patients and at three levels in one patient.
Four patients were treated conservatively and one by the open reduction and internal fixation with encouraging end results. It is suggested that the non operative treatment remains safe for the management of these difficult injuries.
