Abstract
Forty one patients of leprosy were investigated for detection of hepatitis B antigen and antibody to hepatitis B antigen employing counter immunoelectrophoresis. Hepatitis B antigen could not be detected in any case while anti HBsAg was detected in 9(21.9%) cases. These results were insignificant compared to normal blood donors from the same section of population. Opportunity for infection is the vital factor in determining the carriage rate of HBsAg.
