Abstract
The levels of radioactivity in bile, urine and plasma of anaesthetized cats dosed with (4-’4C) cholesterol was studied over a period of 6 hours. Induction of choleresis by bile salts did not significantly affect biliary or urinary excretion of radioactivity, even though the bile volume was increased from approximately 4—5 ml to over 20 ml in the duration of the study. Plasma cholesterol (95.8 ± 17.9 mg%) concentration did not vary significantly over the period of the experiment. Measurement of radioactivity was also carried out in various tissues including liver, kidney, adrenal gland and omentum.
