Abstract
Electrophoretic and haematologic examinations of blood samples from Libyans hailing from eastern and southern Libya revealed that Hb S and Hb C traits were predominant in southern Libya while B-thalassaemia trait was more commonly seen in eastern Libya. Patients with homozygous sickle cell disease showed elevated levels of haemoglobin F as observed for people from eastern Saudi Arabia.
