Abstract

A total of 70 patients with fracture lower dorsolumbar and lumbar spine. were treated with posterior spinal fusion with transpedicular screw fixation. Patient selection included fracture of the vertebra with or without neurological deficit with at least 50 % compression of vertebral body and/or encroachment of medullary canal by bony fragments and thecal compression. This paper highlights the advantages of pedicle screw fixation with early mobilization, thus obviating prolonged use of body cast and decreasing medical complications.
