Abstract
Stomatal guard cells differentiate from guard mother cells which in turn
are produced from leaf inintials. A level of plasticity exists in that guard
mother cells can be induced to develop into other cell types ( e.g. trichomes )
when seedings and established plants of wheat are subjected to water
limitation irrigated and in steas treated by using Abscisic Acid ( ABA )
which is known to influence stomta function and is known to be produced in
response to water limitation decreases are seen in stomatal indices (
proportion of stomata as a function of total epidermal cells ) of leave
development subsequent to treatment.
The aim of this study was to investigate the potential signaling from the
roots of the shoots of seedlings subjected to water limitation by using ABA
which is known to influence stomata function and is known to be produced in
response to water limitation.
