Abstract

Jejunogastric intussusception is a rare complication of gastric surgery. We report a case of efferent loop jejunogastric intussusception happening in a 30 year-old man who was operated 7 years ago for duodenal ulcer. He was operated again, this time, for an acute intestinal occlusion of the ileum caused by adhesions. He had an ileal resection and retrograde emptying of the intestine into the stomach. The evolution was marked by a high occlusion (until 6days of postoperative period). Gastroscopy and upper gastro-intestinal opacification showed jejunogastric intussusception. Laparotomy revealed an efferent loop which was intussuscepted and strangled into the stomach. It necessitated resection and a Roux-en-Y gastrojejunostomy. Follow up was good.
